Introduction to ENCAUSTICS WORKSHOPS
Note: No workshops scheduled for now

The thing about Art is that it's definition of what Art IS keeps expanding. Most of us know that wax is used in the art of candlemaking but did you know that wax is also used in painting? Its called Encaustic (Hot Wax painting). This is not a new fad, it is an ancient art and dates back before oil paints. The appeal for an artist working in this medium is the depth that is created in the many layers and in the versatility. In this class you will learn the different kinds and how to prepare a substrate. Lay a wax base, add different types of pigments,. Add texture by mark making using many different tools, to embed, and glaze. You will complete several pieces in varying sizes and substrate. All supplies are provided for your use. All long hair must be tied back. No open toe shoes or flip flops.
These are 2-day workshops with two different dates to choose from (Oct. 6-7 or Nov. 28-29); maybe repeated if desired.
