WHAT OUR STUDENTS ARE SAYING...
Linda is both an accomplished artist and a phenomenal teacher. It is so neat to be surrounded by her work, in her creative space and learn the techniques and principles of working the medium. But on top of all that, she is good people and fun to spend the day with while I learn something along the way. Do yourself a favor and take a class.

ACRYLIC PAINTING CLASSES WITH LINDA CALVERT JACOBSON
"I love to paint and for years my favorite medium was oils. However, the odor was an issue for my spouse, even when using odorless turps and open windows. I soon stopped painting.
Fellow artists told me to try acrylics, but I knew nothing about the product except that it dried fast. The few times I tried it was in one day workshops, and I always came away frustrated. So, where should I go to learn how acrylics work, but to an expert in the product. That expert would be Linda Jacobson, an award-winning artist, in that medium. As a teacher, she walks the class step by step through everything from preparing your work space, what to use as a palette to keep your paint from drying, understanding how to mix the paint, what brushes to use, the care of brushes, and use of water, i.e., spray vs. dipping, and storing the paint. She helps you SEE color, and how to mix it, and correct mistakes, and avoid mistakes. Her critiques are gentle, but firm, and laced with humor. Every student is treated as if they are the only student. She helped me slow down and zero in on what acrylics can and cannot do. I was initially afraid of the media and with her guidance, came to really enjoy painting again. I completed several works in class, and was finally brave enough to paint again at home in this new medium. Even my husband is happy again, when passing my odorless studio.
I so enjoyed the acrylics class, I decided to take a class in gouache, another medium to explore with a great teacher.
— Gretchen Schleyer, adult student in basic acrylic painting class
"I have dabbled in painting, mainly watercolors but some acrylic, most of my live. However, family, work and other interests forced me to give it up for about 15 years. Having retired this year, it was a good time restart my acrylic painting. Looking for instructors in Wimberley I came across Casa De Linda. I had never met Linda before, but she had an opening and I was anxious to start. Boy, am I glad I did. In a very short period of time Linda had me working on my first "masterpiece" and I must say, it turned out great. Though I had some experience, she has shown me many new and interesting techniques.
Linda is a great instructor. She will work and guide you through the process of creating a great picture. She takes the time to critique your work and suggest alternative approaches or point out problem areas.
"Finishing", putting the final detail touches, on a painting has always been my downfall and Linda has helped me to recognize problems in composition and execution and how to fix them."
I highly recommend Casa De Linda.
—Tim Donnelly, adult student in basic acrylic painting class
"I have taken multiple classes from Linda over the past year. They have included Acrylic Painting lessons and ongoing instructions, Water Colors, Beyond the Basics of Water Colors, Drawing, and Art 2 Gogh with two different groups. I have consistently been impressed by her ability to instruct and direct students of all ages and skill levels. She gives positive reinforcement for her students’ work but manages to guide the direction of the budding artists so that the very best results are obtained. The atmosphere in her studio is always welcoming and friendly between students as well. I’m currently attending three classes a week so you might easily guess I really enjoy my experiences there."
—Susan Parker Leigh, adult student in drawing, acrylic and watercolor classes
"When I came to Linda for her Acrylic painting class, I was a complete beginner. She gave me the confidence and tools needed to embark on a new artistic journey. I feel very lucky to be one of her students. She is patient, encouraging and, of course, incredibly talented! Thank you Linda for sharing your knowledge with me!“
— Devon Duerr, adult student basic acrylic painting
“It is rare to find the talents of a first rate artist and a first rate teacher in the same person. In Linda Calvert Jacobson such a person exists. I have taken painting classes with Linda for over 5 years; I have had to work at it part time. To date I have completed 11 acrylic paintings under her mentorship. She finds that sweet spot in each of her students where she can challenge us but not wish to defeat us in our efforts. Her individualized instruction is the main reason I continue classes with her. As a teacher of 45 years, I can attest to Linda's superb talents as a mentor and a friend.”
— Dennis Slattery, adult student basic acrylic painting
“I learned more in one lesson about mixing paints from you than several months in another class I had taken. Best art teacher and each lesson is a 3 hour get-away from the trials of life. Learned much from hands-on approach to each student and a kinder, gentler person doesn't exist. She tells her concerns in a straightforward manner and expects the same from others."
— Don Staats, adult student basic acrylic painting
“Linda - I may have left Texas (stupid, I know) but I want you to know how much you and your classes I took still inspire me. Thank you so much.”
— Steve Howard (adult student basic acrylic painting; lives in South Dakota, posted to Facebook)
“Linda is an amazing lady and a new friend. As an art teacher, she is superb. She makes each person feel special, never criticizes but keeps us on course as we work, and makes each person feel special. She is the best painting teacher I ever had! "
— Sandy Schlameus, adult student basic acrylic painting
“Have been taking from Linda for over a year and had only done graphite and limited pastels before. Feel like I have grown by ‘leaps and bounds.’ She covers colors and mixing them completely and is a very hands on and upbeat teacher. Her passion for art is expressed along with passion for her students. In the most lovingly way possible, one is expected to do his best and is always pleasantly surprised! Her classes are highly recommended and truly worth the time and effort."

WATERCOLOR PAINTING CLASSES WITH LINDA CALVERT JACOBSON
"I took Linda’s Basic Watercolor class when a friend of mine told me he was taking it and thought I would enjoy it. Which of course I did! So much fun! Linda is a great lady and a wonderful teacher. I had not worked in watercolors in a very, very long time so I basically had to learn it all over again. So glad I did! I have taken what she taught me and have been experimenting on my own now and have done quite a few different paintings. My husband and family are quite impressed! I hope I can take some other classes in the future. I am sure there is WAY more that she can teach me! Thanks again Linda!"
— Laurie Huffman, adult watercolor student
"For many years I wanted to take a watercolor class. I finally mustered the courage and signed up for Linda's drawing class and subsequently her basic watercolor class and I am so happy I did! Linda is a talented artist and a fantastic teacher. Class size is small so there's plenty of one on one time, and she is patient, encouraging, kind and funny. You will come away with knowledge about the tools you need to get started and a wealth of other information to set you firmly on the path to being an artist. By the end of the class you will have created several pieces of beautiful art thanks to Linda's step by step teaching methods. I now have the confidence to draw and paint and it brings me such joy!"
— Donna Holmes, adult watercolor student
"Thank you for absolutely everything you have taught me and for your unwavering patience with our class! You are truly and amazing artist and teacher. I'm so honored to have been in your classes."
—Victoria Bailey, watercolor student
"Thus far I have completed two courses with Linda and have already signed up for a third. The basic drawing course helped me regain lost skills from many years ago. Her watercolor class took me from a total beginner to the basic understanding of watercolor techniques and completed work. I have already signed up for the intermediate watercolor class and later will continue with acrylic. Linda has the unusual ability not only to be a fine artist but to teach. She is patient and encouraging. Nobody feels stupid in Linda’s classes. We all leave feeling pleased with what we have accomplished."
— Henry Neil, adult drawing and watercolor student
"Linda is a very competent teacher whose teaching skills are sequential, detailed and very explanatory and informative for beginning art students. Her classes are conducted promptly with consideration and respect for her students who are investing time in a new venue. She is also flexible when students need to make up a class. She advances her students to the next level of learning as soon as they have mastered the techniques. Having taken a series of classes and felt success at a new level, I highly recommend her classes."
— Bren Isgitt, watercolor, adult watercolor student, Art-2-Gogh Painting party
DRAWING CLASSES WITH LINDA CALVERT JACOBSON
"A few months ago I took Linda's intro to drawing class and it was so much fun! I can't draw a straight line even with a ruler and Linda made me feel like a champ! I can't wait to take the class again, and to move onto paper mache. I am also the proud owner of one of Linda's paintings and expect to have more of her incredible original works in my home."
—Jini Berman, adult student in drawing
"I recently completed Linda Calvert Jacobson's 10-hour drawing course. Linda gives clear instructions, patient guidance, helpful suggestions for improvement, and acknowledgement of good work. During each stage of the drawing course Linda teaches specific skills and fun exercises to develop or enhance those skills. The course helped me to see things more clearly so I can more effectively portray them. I highly recommend Linda’s drawing course."
— Kristi Gibbs, adult student in drawing and basic acrylic painting
“In 2007 I took a basic drawing class from Linda Jacobson and it was the best first step into art that I could have chosen. In addition to being a very accomplished artist herself, she has the ability to share her knowledge and guide her students in their journeys. The amount of progress she was able to guide me into in a short six week class was substantial. At the end of the six weeks, I told her that I wanted to focus on portraits. Because she was not offering a portrait class at that time, and being the unselfish person that she is, she introduced me to someone who was teaching portrait classes. I took an acrylic painting class from Linda several years later and under her guidance produced one of my favorite portraits, a cow.
