PASTEL PAINTING beginner & Intermediate level

"After retiring from many years in the workplace, I wanted to return to my first love which was creating visual art. Lynette facilitated the process for me. With infinite patience in her beginner's pastels class, she coached my eyes to see and my right brain to understand again. After just a few classes, I became not so interested in 'how it all works' but how it looks and feels. Beginning Pastels

Learn basic techniques, how pastels and paper work together, about the types of pastels and how to use them. You will learn how to create a basic palette and mix colors. Instructions in basic drawing is also included. By the end of the 5-week session, you will have worked on several pastel paintings, both still-life and florals from live set ups and a landscape from photographs. Also, with the supply fee comes access to a wide variety of materials and papers to try out and experiment with so you’ll know what to buy when the time comes. Perfect for beginners and as a refreshment course for people who have worked with pastels, with Lynette, other teachers or on their own.

Meets for 5 weeks, 3 hours per class. Limited to 6 students.

Intermediate Pastels

This course picks up where you left off in Lynette’s Basic Pastels class. Reenforces skills learned in the beginning class such as value and color harmony.  You’ll also be strengthening drawing skills while you learn new techniques, including how to paint drapery, metals and crystal. You’ll learn about under painting, as well as preparing and personalizing your own substrate.

ABOUT LYNETTE...

Lynette Clauser is an award-winning artist and respected instructor, and has taught all levels of students from basic through advanced. While she is widely known for her work in  stained glass, Lynette is well versed in different mediums, including pastels, glass fusing/jewelry making, paper making, encaustics and mixed media art journaling. She has studied with nationally recognized instructors and received awards from the Texas Pastel Society and the New Braunfels Art League. Lynette will be offering both classes for adults during the Fall, Winter and Spring, and will be teaching in Summer Art Camp programs at the new Wimberley home for Casa de Linda Art Studio. In addition to being an artist and instructor, Lynette also has for many years generously donated her time by organizing the annual NBAL Children’s Art Show every February.
